Review: MUA Undressed Palette

Hello everyone!
The last month I've been so busy with uni and everything, so I haven't really found time for blogging. Until last week! It started to clear up in school and at the same time I received a parcel from the lovely Marvelle containing the MUA Undressed palette! Since we don't have MUA in my country I got really excited because I've read so many great things about it + it's really cheap! Apparently it's very similar to Urban Decays Naked palette, and that's great because I do not have the budget for that one!

As you can see there are 12 shades in this palette. Nine of them are very shimmery, two are completely matte and one is matte with a few sprinkles of glitter in it. The shimmery ones are very pigmented, I think it's really hard to find eyeshadows that go on this well without a primer. I was really surprised! The matte ones are not so good. Without a primer they will barely show up and with a primer they show up pretty good but tend to get very patchy. Most of the shades are fantastic though, and they go on so smoothly, almost like a cream. Some of them do have a little bit of fall out so watch out for that.

The first shade is a perfect shade for highlighting your browbone. I actually prefer this one without primer because I felt it got a little more of an orange tone used with a primer.

The second shade is a gorgeous rose gold one, and it goes on SO smoothly! It is definitely one of my favourite shades in this palette. This one does give you a lot of fall out if you're not careful.

The third shade is what I think is the worst one in the whole palette. It is a matte one, you can barely see it with and without the primer (and I really packed it on there!), it doesn't blend very good and it goes on quite patchy. But they can't all be perfect now, can they!

Shade 4 is a creamy copper one, very pigmented and amazing for us blue eyed girls! The same goes for shade 6, which is a gorgeous gold.

Shade 5 is a matte, and just as disappointing as the other one. It is a little more pigmented but it goes on very patchy and you really have to pack it on there to get it to look sort of pretty. It does go on a lot better and less patchy over a primer.

The seventh shade is also a copper one, but this one has a lot more gold in it than shade 4. It is really creamy and extremely pigmented. You can barely see any difference from the one with a primer and the one without!

Shade number 8 I think is my favourite in this palette, although it's almost impossible to just choose one. It's the most gorgeous brown, it goes on really smooth, it doesn't have a lot of fall out (if any) and it's just so pretty!! It has goldy undertones which I absolutely love.

The ninth shade is a adorable baby pink. This palette has some of the prettiest pink shades I've seen. It goes on really creamy and it works really well without a primer too.

The tenth shade is also my favourite! Like almost all the other shades, haha! But this is a very pretty brown, just like shade 8. This is a lot more brown than the other one. I just love the texture and everything about it. I'm really a sucker for brown eyeshadows! I don't know why.

Shade 11 is a matte black with little blue sparkles. It isn't shimmery like the others, it's more glittery. It goes on very patchy like a lot of black shades do, but it goes on surprisingly better with a primer. The blue sparkles really show up over the primer as well.

Shade 12 is a really pretty icy blue! I actually hadn't looked at this before I swatched it now, and I was really amazed! I think it's so gorgeous, but in the palette it might look a little bit boring and gray. It goes on really creamy and didn't have any fall out.

Overall I think this palette is really amazing! I think it's a little bit crazy how you can get so many amazing shades for only £4(!) when there are so many other palettes out there that costs five times as much and has a lot worse shades. This was a really great first experience with MUA, and when I go to England I will definitely buy a lot more. These eyeshadows blend so beautifully and go on a lot more smoothly than - this is a little bit crazy, but I would say 90% of all the eyeshadows I own. It is just a really great palette. They should stick to the shimmery shades though...

And finally, I did a look with this palette to test it out and I thought I'd show you guys! Let me know what you think of the palette if you've tried it :)

Bright Luminizing Highlighter from Makeup Mekka

About a week ago this Norwegian brand called Makeup Mekka was having a huge sale and I just had to pick up some goodies! I haven't tried their makeup before, but I've tried their brushes and they are amazing!

So I picked up a few eyeshadows and a highlighter since I don't have one. It looked really pretty on the website and it was only £1 (!!!), so I really didn't have anything to lose! It got here really quick and I fell in love with it so fast, it's the most beautiful thing! I love the packaging, it's so sleek and compact. The highlighter itself is so creamy and shimmery I just want to swim in it! The gorgeous rose gold colour just makes it all better.

It comes with a little plastic thingy to not make the mirror dirty, but I lost mine. I love this colour, I need more things like this! The application is really creamy and it's easy to blend.

On the left I just put it on with my finger. See how good it looks?! It's so amazing! On the right I blended it and it gives the most beautiful shimmer and is an amazing highlight. I use this under my brow and on my cheek bone and I think it looks lovely.

Like I said, it cost me £1 but normally the price is at £8.60. That's not a bad price either I think! You can get a lot worse for a lot more... Unfortunately the website is in Norwegian (I haven't seen any options to change the language anywhere, but maybe I'm just blind), but I'll leave the link HERE anyway if anyone wants to check it out.

DISNEY villains: Captain Hook

Hello lovelies and new followers! It is time for a new Disney villain here on my blog, and the bad guy today is one crazy pirate! I always found Captain Hook more funny than scary, and I completely understand why he wants Peter Pan gone - the kid can be a little cocky! But he has done a lot of awful things this pirate, so I'm not on his side! Peter all the way.

If you are a new follower to my blog and don't really know what these Disney Villains posts are, it is a little collaboration with Marvelle at Blog of Shadows where we use Disney films as inspiration for our makeup looks! I do the villains and she does their good guy counterparts.

"Captain James Hook is a villainous pirate captain of the Jolly Roger, and lord of the pirate village/harbour in Neverland, where he is widely feared. Most importantly, he is the archenemy of Peter Pan. It is said that Hook was Blackbeard's boatswain, and that he was the only man Long John Silver ever feared. His only two fears are the sight of his own blood (which is supposedly an unnatural colour) and one fateful crocodile."

Review: Maybelline The Falsies Volum' Express mascara

When my mum came back from holiday she had a few gifts for me, and one of those was the Maybelline The Falsies mascara! I got really excited about it because I've heard so many good things about this, especially in the last month or so for some reason! I decided this couldn't be a coincidence and quickly made up my mind that this mascara was destined to be with me... before I even tried it on! I was really excited to see if it was as good as the mighty internet said it was so I tried it on right away, and I decided I'd do a little review to show you my experience with this mascara! :-)

"Maybelline The Falsies Feather-look Volum'Express mascara"

The first thing I would like to say is that this mascara is not for beginners! The wand is massive and it's very easy to get that spider leg look if you're not careful with your application. On the other hand, if you are  careful you can easily achieve an amazing natural look or the false lash look this mascara promises.

The wand is very flexible which helps to lift and separate your lashes, and since it's so bendy I feel it makes your lashes look better than a normal hard wand. The wand is also shaped like a triangle, the corners have longer bristles than the sides. This will make it easier for you to use the mascara, because you can use the length of bristles you prefer.

No mascara, no eyelash curler.

With mascara, no eyelash curler. One coat.
I got a little bit messy on the top :(

The mascara gives a nice curl to your lashes without having to use an eyelash curler, and they stay curled all day. I really like the finished result (not my bottom lashes, they don't look good with any mascara on), and the lashes feels really good too. They have that perfect 'not too stiff, not too soft' feeling, which I really love!

I really, really like this mascara, right now it's my favourite :-) It looks really good on the lashes, it doesn't look too false, and it easily gives you a natural look and lets you apply more coats if you want a more, well, unnatural look.

Like all Maybelline mascaras this is very affordable, and I really recommend this to everyone :-)

Katniss' coronation makeup

Hello lovelies (and new lovelies)! Yesterday I was having a really creative moment and I decided to do something really crazy (for me anyways). So, since I am really looking forward to the Hunger Games to be released on DVD I decided to do Katniss' makeup from her coronation at the end. In the film she is wearing peacock feather lashes from PaperSelf, but since I don't have any peacock lashes lying around I decided to draw them on with a gel liner! She is also wearing a electric blue eyeliner, in true Capitol style.

A picture of her makeup! You can see the lashes, but not really the blue liner.
Peacock lashes :) I only drew on the ones at the top of course, that goes at the very end of your eye.

This was a really fun look to do, I love doing these more creative looks that lets me practise what I'm not very good at/haven't tried before. It took me about 2 and a half hours I think, but the time just flew by!
I'm quite happy with my result, and I hope you like it too!

Oh! I managed to find the products used by Jennifer Lawrence's makeup artist (Ve Neill) in the film, so I will list them below the products I used for anyone that is interested!

Products used:

Lime Crime Eyeshadow Helper (primer)
Coastal Scents 88 Original Palette in a skintoned eyeshadow as a base all over my lid
Coastal Scents 88 Original Palette in a light brown just in the crease
Barry M Dazzledust in 15 Aqua and 22 Electric blue mixed together as eyeliner
Maybelline Gel Liner in black
Lancôme Hypnôse Doll Eyes mascara
H&M White Eyeliner

Actual products used:

Peacock feather lashes from PaperSelf
MAC Pro Longwear lipstick in Overtime
Stila sparkle waterproof liquid eyeliner in Bora Bora
(I am not sure of which foundation she used, but she uses the MUFE HD foundations a lot so it might be that)

I'm really sorry about the pictures, they aren't as good as they should be.
The lighting was awful :(

That's it for today, guys! I hope you enjoyed it, and please leave a comment!

PS:  I'm sorry for not posting my Wednesday Wishlists for the last two weeks, but I seriously couldn't think of anything I wanted! Just one (two?) of those days, I guess... I might write one tomorrow, I do have a few products I want written down on a piece of paper, haha :)

Review: Liz Earle Botanical Shine Shampoo

I recently bought a few products I have craved for a while from Liz Earle, and one of those was the Botanical Shine Shampoo which I thought I would review today for you!

Liz Earle has got only one shampoo in their haircare range. It is for all hair types, but their conditioners have a lot more choices depending on your hair type. It is SLS/SLES free (if you don't know what this is, pop on over to Marvelle's blog, she does some posts called "know your ingredients" which are really informative),  but it's also silicone free and it has lots of natural ingredients in it like Aloe Vera, Cedarwood and Patchouli Oil (and many more!), and they don't test on animals! A lot of shampoos and soaps like this (more on the natural side) doesn't tend to lather very much, but this one actually lathers really good, it feels really soft and you don't need a lot of product to really foam it up! Like it says on the bottle, "a little goes a long way"! Liz Earle actually spent 6 years developing this shampoo, to get it as perfect as possible.

Normally I don't like to use shampoos that claims to be "for all hair types", because for me those have never worked and it just feels like the cheapest way to make a shampoo. But I truly believe this shampoo really works for all hairtypes (I mean.... come on, 6 years of developing)! It got my hair to look so natural like when you were a child! Before this shampoo I had to wash my hair every other day because it would get so greasy, but now I can easily go 4 days without washing it.

As for the smell I really didn't like it at first, because it's so different from all the perfume and flowery smells I'm used to from other shampoos, but after a few washes I really liked it! It smells clean and really natural. Just like it should be, right??

After using this shampoo for a while now, it has left my hair really fluffy, shiny and incredibly soft. A lot of shampoos makes your hair so heavy, but with this my hair is really light and it gives me a lot more volume than any normal shampoos does. I have actually had many people commenting on my hair and how good it looks (and that's unusual!).

I will definitely repurchase this shampoo, a long with a conditioner. My hair has never been really frizzy, but the first day after using this shampoo I look like a giant frizzball, but it settles down right after that first day. So I think a conditioner might be the answer to that!

Full ingredients list:
Aqua (water), Sodium lauroyl methyl isethionate, Aloe barbadensis (aloe vera) leaf juice, Sorbitan sesquicaprylate, Glycerin, Cocamidopropyl betaine, Sodium methyl isethionate, Lauric acid, Vitellaria paradoxa (shea butter), Pyrus malus (apple) fruit extract, Citrus aurantium dulcis (orange) fruit extract, Tocopherol (vitamin E), Phenoxyethanol, Panthenol, Citronellyl methylcrotonate, Trisodium

You can buy the shampoo HERE, and for £8.50 you get 200mL of product, and they also do travel sizes for £4.75.

This product was bought with my own money, and I am in no way affiliated with the brands mentioned. My reviews are always my honest opinion :-)
